ABOUT JESSICA

Jessica Chizen, a Bay Area native, is a California state licensed and nationally certified speech-language pathologist, providing speech therapy services to children for over a decade. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis with an interdisciplinary major in Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology and minors in Speech & Hearing Sciences and Children's Studies. She continued to complete her Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology from Boston University. Jessica is proficient in Spanish and incorporates baby sign language, as indicated, in her speech therapy.

Jessica's practice includes speech and language evaluations and treatment sessions across ages and speech and language domains. She works with children all over the San Francisco Bay Area in their home, in school, and via telepractice. She developed and leads Talking with Tots, weekly parent-and-toddler classes focused on language development and social skills in a playgroup setting.

In addition to her private practice, Jessica is a speech-language pathologist at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Stanford's pediatric outpatient clinic, where she sees patients, mentors new clinicians and has been a supervisor for Clinical Fellows.

Jessica has a Certificate of Clinical Competency and an Award for Continuing Education from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She has completed the following advanced training:​

  • Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing

  • Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol

  • Lidcombe Program

  • Camp Shout Out for Youth Who Stutter

  • Hanen More Than Words

  • Hanen It Takes Two to Talk

  • DIR Floortime

Jessica currently serves on the Board of Directors of Camp Tawonga, a residential summer camp near Yosemite National Park. She also piloted and led Awesome Readers Camp, a summer reading camp at the Presidio YMCA.
