ABOUT JESSICA

Jessica Chizen, a Bay Area native, is a California state licensed and nationally certified speech-language pathologist, providing speech therapy services to children for over a decade. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis with an interdisciplinary major in Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology and minors in Speech & Hearing Sciences and Children's Studies. She continued to complete her Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology from Boston University. Jessica is proficient in Spanish and incorporates baby sign language in her speech therapy.​

 

Jessica's practice includes speech and language evaluations and treatment sessions across ages and speech and language domains. She works with children all over the San Francisco Bay Area in their home, in school, and via telepractice. She developed and leads Talking with Tots, weekly parent-and-toddler classes focused on language development and social skills in a playgroup setting.​

 

In addition to her private practice, Jessica is a speech-language pathologist at Stanford Medicine Children's Health in the pediatric outpatient clinic where she specializes in childhood apraxia of speech and stuttering.

 

​Jessica has a Certificate of Clinical Competency and an Award for Continuing Education from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She presented at the 2024 California Speech Language Hearing Association (CSHA) Convergence on the topic of stuttering within an episodic care model. In 2025, Jessica was interviewed for an episode of the Beyond the Stutter podcast. Jessica is also recognized as a member of the Apraxia Kids Speech-Language Pathologist Directory.​

 

Jessica recently served on the Board of Directors of Camp Tawonga, a residential summer camp near Yosemite National Park. She also piloted and led Awesome Readers Camp, a summer reading camp at the Presidio YMCA.
